Getting the to the Nexus was quite a long journey so thought i would share my experience with you all and anyone out there would is thinking of getting Nexus.
I started into gaming laptops way back in 2004 and was always a Dell XPS guy, updating ever 9-15 months, but gradually started to get annoyed with the gaming laptops. It all came to a head when my 2 fav games had sequels released, Flight Sim X, Silent hunter 4. My expensive XPS could barley run them in minimal settings, i was not a happy bunny at all and decided to sell all my laptop gear seeing it as a waste of money and testing my patience daily! I got a XBOX 360 and enjoyed the simplicity, though after a year missed the thinking mans games and the tinkering of computers, and was getting bored of the mind numbing shooters that all seem the same on Xbox. So decided to get another laptop. First and most awful thought, Rock. Although they have nice adverts and all seems good, they instantly charged my account on order and after 5 wks of unanswered emails, constant changing random excuses i in a rage told them were to go, and asked for my money back. That very afternoon being most annoyed that i had wasted 5 wks i flicked through the ads in Custom PC mag to see Kobalt computers! Check out the website and testimonials and was impressed with what seemed to be a small customer orrientated company. I was so right, my order came fast, hassle free and all my questions were answered promptly. The Nexus itself is quite simply what i always wanted my gaming laptop to be, it plays the games, it looks great and its so so fast! Thats all we want isnt it! Whilst ordering the Nexus i contemplated my of the different options and though i would list these to help others stuck in the decesion making process! Screen - Glossy or Matt - I ordered a matt being paraniod about reflections but changed it to gloss and was glad i did as the reflections are totally fine and not that bad! Vista - 32/64? - Again much looking into this was done and i got 64bit with 4gb ram, you cannot notice any diffence at all other than having bags of ram!! all my software and stuff works perfectly! Turbo memory - I was going to get this but changed my mind after reading it doesnt make that much difference with 4gb ram. All in all, thats so much to the Kobalt team, the nexus is amazing, thanks. Hope this little story helps those on the verge of hitting the 'buy' button, go on do it! |

I will be honest. I hadn't heard of Kobalt when I started looking at possibly a new laptop or a desktop. At the time, I was interested in buying a laptop. I have built pc's before and had a perfectly working one, though slightly long in the tooth, that had a number of component changes over the years, some tears and tantrums (as all pc's do), so I was going to buy a laptop! I had looked at the usual people, flashy Alienware, Dell etc but was aware of the stories, so started to look more closely at notebook forums, looked at Clevo's, then found a lot of people talking about Kobalt. I read the reviews, and what people had said about them, and checked out the forum. The thing that struck me was the great comments and reviews people had written about them. So I played with the ordering system, and then decided that I would go for my first built desktop after weighing up the pros and cons of laptops and my situation. I spoke to the guys, they offered a few suggestions and after a couple of days I went ahead and bought an OC3. I got in before the mass Nexus orders, and I got my pc fairly quickly. Unfortunately, it started to develop problems quite quickly, but Andrew and Neil were both great over the phone, and suggested various options until the problems seemed to have gone. So for a few weeks everything seemed ok, but then the problem started to come back, worse than before and Kobalt offered to take back the pc for repairs without hesitation. After a lot of testing of various things, it was determined that it was the motherboard and the pc is back shiny as ever! So why am I writing this long essay? Well, to highlight their excellent customer support. They work long hours, are calm on the phone, reply timely to emails and don't show the same condescending attitude that other companies display. If it was a Dell or an Alienware, I would have pulled my hair out, and fought for a refund by now. Kobalt's excellent customer service is testament to the faith I had in them when I read their reviews, and saw the reputation they had built. I know that the way they handled my situation means they will be getting a returning customer in the future!! Top notch pc, and Top notch service!! Good work guys, and thanks for all the help!! |

Hello Kobalt, thanks for the Comanche Sli. The laptop is excellent and it does look like the mutts nuts of laptops. The service I have received from the lads at Kobalt has been excellent and I can thoroughly recommend them. The machine was ready before the delivery date that was listed so happy there. I just want to say thankyou for all the support and for the amazing machine My journmey first started from ringing Neil and asking for some help with making the perfect machine for me. this resulted in many emails backwards and forwards with reviews he had found to give me an idea about what the parts were he was suggesting and also what was best for my needs. there were a few delays in the shipping but i hastily say from no fault of Kobalt computers!! the monitor that Dell kept sernding had a fault with it. i was happy that a company actually checks what is being sent out, rather than sending it hoping for the best. When the macine arrived i was adequately gobsmacked! the wiring is the tidiest i have ever seen, and you can see somebody has put real love into making this machine!! there was a small issue on the Saturday i recieved it which was quickly fixed and also accompanied by a phone call from Neil on a saturday from home!!! talk about dedication to the customer!! The customer service i have had from beggining to end has been phenomanal. I have never heard or experienced a company like this that keeps you up to date on your order almost daily, informs you everything that is happening during build, and that provides you with so much information BERFORE you have even handed over your money I was thinking of adding some slightly faster parts (cpu) but neil pointed out that there was ne need for the benefits id get and this was a waste of money. I have seen othe rcompanys which try and get the most money out of you. I must say that there is a system in pc worl for nearly £3000 classed as there ultimate gaminbg pc which is only a dual core with a 8800 NVIDIA card in with 3GB RAM (what a strange unmatched piece of memory and only DDR2) and the monitor was only 24". My system was only a bit more and makes there system look like a tatty Amiga 500(im not calling the amiga 500 as i still own one lol). That has shown to me that Kobalt not only make good systems but are excellent value for money, and there about making customers happy, not maximising profit. I dont think i was loved as much as a baby compared to how well looked after i have been with kobalt. all in all Kobalt are what legends are made of, i will only ever be using them for any of my computer needs, and i will shun anyone i know who doesnt use them!!! |

Fantastic laptop, solidly built and very fast. Haven`t found a single thing to complain about except the laptop kept missing keystrokes every 40 to 50 characters or so. I typed a message in the post sales support forum and got help from the MD himself! Andrew delt with the problem quickly and helpfully even replying to one message at twenty to eleven at night, now thats what I call customer service! The problem has now been resolved without needing to send the laptop back to Kobalt which is a great result, I couldn`t have asked for more. I`m really glad I purchased my laptop from Kobalt as even though it had a fault the whole level of service from ordering through delivery to fault fixing was exceptional and professional. I highly recommend this first class company without reservation and look forward to buying from them again. |

I received my Apache IV system a little while ago, and was waiting before posting on here just to make sure everything was 100%. Due to business I was unable to receive the computer for a few weeks, I phoned the guys and delivery was re-organised for a later date, absolutely no hassle whatsoever. It arrived on the day in question. Upon casually discarding my old tower, installing the new one and turning it on I noticed there was a rattling from inside the case. I again phoned the guys to figure out what it was. A case fan from the top of the unit had come loose in transit, and the fan on the CPU heatsink had moved in its bracket. As such I had to open the case and just slot these back in. This was no hassle at all, especially if you have some experience inside a PC case. Once this was fixed (10 mins) with some excellent support over the phone the unit itself is amazingly quiet. The build quality, which I just have to mention, is superb. Both in cable management, build layout and the quality of the case itself. The case is stunning, larger than your average tower, midway between a mini and a server tower I would say. The front plate is almost half a centimetre thick and, as is the rest of the case, hugely sturdy. As is expected from a system of this standard its performance is amazing. I had some reservations about Vista, and still do but it's understandable from a still relatively fresh operating system. My advice certantly for those using this as a gaming system, as I do, is to make sure that you regularily check Microsofts webpage for Vista hotfixes and also make sure the graphics drivers are fully up to date. All in all hugely satisfied with the system for the money it cost. 5 stars and all that! |

We asked Kobalt Computers to spec up a specialist computer for a real-time application for us, and wirelessly network it with our existing computer system. We had very specific requirements and needed guaranteed service levels in terms of performance. We were highly impressed with Kobalt’s technical knowledge and consultative expertise. Kobalt Computers were recommended to me by a friend who had bought one of their small form factor PCs. I had a set budget and knew I wanted the best performing components available at the time. I liked the Coolermaster case and knew I wanted a 20” wide screen monitor but not being a PC expert I was unsure as to the best components to pick. I spoke several times to Neil at Kobalt who made several suggestions on component choices and what the best-suited system would be for me considering my usage. As it turned out their company is based not too far from my house and so they offered to deliver my PC personally and help set it up for the same price as having it shipped to me. Of course I said yes and so the same person who I spoke to on the phone and built my PC then delivered and installed it with a quick tour of the features. This is the sort of service you only get from the smaller specialised companies and it really is unbeatable. Unfortunately after a few weeks an intermittent fault developed with the PC. I reported the problem and after talking to Neil about it the cause was diagnosed as faulty RAM. Kobalt Computers replaced the RAM the next day and, as I needed to use my PC that evening, left a program running overnight to check it was ok rather than taking it back to their premises. It has performed flawlessly ever since and is infinitely faster than my old system. The speed it burns and rips CDs is amazing, the onboard wireless connection is great and playing games like Counterstrike on a 20” monitor with the speakers pumped up is mindblowing! Overall Kobalt provided a first class service and the small company touch is unbeatable. Since I bought the PC I have also had their network guy back to upgrade my wireless network (3 PCs and 2 laptops in all) including reconditioning my old PC! |

I was very nervous about buying a premade PC as I have always built all my previous machines, but being in the market for a water-cooled PC and being new to this area Iknew I needed some help and guidance. Kobalt certainly supplied these in heaps, from expert product knowledge to reassuring phone calls and even personal delivery. Although I did feel sorry for Neil being stuck on the M25 on a Friday night to get to me. But the end result was certainly worth it I have a very quick yet very quite water-cooled PC that will happily deal with anything I can throw at it and on top of all that I know it will be serviced to keep it running to this level. Because of this I would happily recommend Kobalt to anyone needing a quality PC built to the highest standard whatever that may be. |

In my opinion. Kobalt computers are by far the finest custom P.C builders around at the moment . I'm a gamer and i was on the look out for a rig that would deal with the high demands of modern games, i spent a few months looking in to all the systems around, like alien-ware and and dell's xps range. But after reading about all the problems people have with after sales support!!, i decided to give kobalt a ring. When i first spoke to them (last november) the x6800 was the fastest cpu avalible and the 7950x2 was the fastest gpu around, so i said i'll have them!. Most company's would have said fine and taken my money, Niel advised me that the Quad cores were just around the corner and the 8800gtx's would be out in the next few weeks.They gave me the choice of having what i said or waiting a few weeks for the latest stuff, so i ordered the new stuff before it was released. From the moment the order was placed until it was delivered, they kept in contact a few times a week with photo's of the parts when they got delivered and also photo's of the build progress,i was amazed that i could make a few minor changes to the build right up to the last few days. They delivered it in person christmas eve evening, and i was amazed at the quality of the build, you can tell if its been thrown together or if someone has taken care and a lot of time, everything looked perfect I did have a stick of ram that decided to stop working, and i wondered what the support would be like ( boxing day). Next day they drove all the way back up with some upgraded ram for me at no cost !! try to get any other company to do that!! Because i had the EVGA 680i mobo,i expected a few problems. After a few blue screens,They drove all the way up again and replaced it with the Asus striker extreme , which is the best mobo money can buy. ( no extra cost) And since then it has been fine. |
