View Full Version : Not too happy with the write transfer speed on the Comanche 17 laptop.

Hello!

I just recently received my Comanche 17 laptop and the only thing that im not happy about at all is the write transfer speed on this
laptop seem very slow, that much that when ether copying big files from hard drive to hard drive or even CD/DVD or memory stick to
hard drive, it takes ages to transfer large data and I also get a lot of curupted files ones transfer is complete.

I've noticed during transfer of data in windows 7, the copying box is showing the transfer speed is high at the start then it goes
down to about 4.14 MB/sec and lower transfer speed within a few seconds, then the transfer progress bar goes up too quickly 100% then
the copying box just disappears and so I think this is the reason why im getting curupted files.

The read speed I think seem fine but I think there might be something wrong with how the laptop has been set up that's affecting the
data transfer performance of the laptop.

I've also installed all the windows 7 updates and even tweaked the os but I still have the same problem. I've also installed windows
vista but I have the same problem as well.

Does anyone know what could be causing this to happen???

I've included the complete specs of my laptop below.

Thanks for responding.

When you say copying to hardrive is slow, do you mean the SSD or the HDD?

Copying to or from both hard drives gives the same problem.

I thought it may have been the SSD that was slow so I made two partitions on the normal hard drive and tried to transfer a large file from one partition into the other and I get the same problem as well.

Are you running any kind of A/V or something which might be interfering with disk access?

It's probably not relevant, but copying one partition to another on the same (magnetic) drive is quite likely to involve a huge amount of seeking, so it might not be a great way of doing a perf test. You'd be better off using a disk benchmarking tool of some kind which can do writes without needing a read to be happening as well.

As I said above, transferring large files from hard drive to hard drive or DVD to hard drive I get the problem described in my first post.

The only A/V program I have running is Microsoft Security Essentials but like I said, ive also tried vista on the second hard drive with no extra software installed but have the same problem as well.

Please benchmark both disks with ATTO disk benchmark tool (google is your friend) and post results here.
