NOTE - due to an attempted website hack over this weekend only the configuration page is available here (http://www.kobaltcomputers.co.uk/acatalog/gs650.html) - screen resolution is 1366 x 768 NOT 1600 x 900 as currently displayed.

Kobalt GS660 Overview page (http://kobaltcomputers.co.uk/gs660_overview.php)

The GS range fits in just below the G range in performance terms with the following attributes:

- GS650 is the first Kobalt laptop to feature Intel HD Graphics on the CPU core
- GS660 is the first Kobalt laptop to feature ATi HD graphics
- Extended battery life
- Quieter and cooler running due to lower thermal output
- Maximum portability, Kobalts thinnest performance laptops

For a quick comparison between the two models here are the major differences:

GS660 vs GS650

Graphics - ATi 4570 vs Intel HD
Max CPU - i7 820XM vs i5 620M
Webcam - 2MP vs 1.3MP
Screen resolution - 1600x900 vs 1366x768
Fingerprint reader - only on GS660

Graphics - ATi 4850 vs Intel HD

It's a 4570 not a 4850 :) You might want to get that edited, or you'll have some dissapointed people. :)

Either way nice to see you expanding your chassis range, I can see both of them having a place.

Just thinking the same thing (especially as I have just taken delivery of the ugliest works laptop I have ever seen - Dell Latitude E5400).

You must be having a laugh, it took me 2 weeks to convince our IT department to get me one of these, it would take me years to convince them to splash out on a kobalt machine

lol tell me about it. It took my company 5 years apparently to replace our machines which they did a few months ago. P4 2.8 with 512MB of RAM and McAffee was NOT fun to try and multi-task on!

The place I used to work just replaced their last Windows 98 machine a month before I left.

Yeah I worked for Abbey a few years ago and they used several Win98 switchboard machines.

The difference was my current company wanted us to work on those machines as though they didnt cause any holdup.

Try telling us that when we have to open multiple schedulers, internet browser etc all on one machine, used about 512MB of RAM just to load everything for desktop, let alone once you used anything. Pagefile heaven :/

My current company is still using Internet Explorer 6, hacktastic.

So were we til these new machines. I still laugh at how long it took them to get shot of Conficker when it hit our systems.

that actually closed 2 major london hospitals and we was ready to close but the super duper it/pacs team (me) sorted it with 15 minutes to spare.

It was funny because they cleaned it off our MK site, but we kept getting it back from one of the servers in London they'd forgotten to clean, and it took them a few weeks to work out why we kept getting it again :D

He has over 3 times as many posts, you could black mail him into doing your work for you whilst you spend more time on here. :D

Sadly I'm no longer looking for one of these... just purchased myself an M860TU for £500 because it was such a steal.
