So in Vista, powermizer is hidden, but its still there.

maybe its just supposed to be that way. Don't know. Check these clocks

500 / 799 on mains while gaming

some other clock speed I forgot that is used for bluray

275 / 301 on battery while gaming

200 / 100 regular windows

The battery lasts quite a decent hour gaming too.
It's not impossible to game on battery if you had to at least for the lower end games for an hour on lower graphics. But is it possible to run 500 / 799 on battery if you wanted to? It would kinda make sence if you could run other componants on low battery mode and the GPU on full pelt on battery while gaming since games mostly use the GPU, they wouldnt be that impacted and you'd get what 30mins, an hour?

I mean this is my first notebook so i wouldnt really know, is this normal? I see that battery clocks can run some games slow and dvd's, not bluray though, not smoothly as a clock higher than 275 / 301 is required for bluray

:)Yup, power saving via downclocking is normal. We'll take a look tomorrow and see exactly what can be "tweeked"

Groovy thanks, yeah tis Tuesday still ok right? gotta get a label off you for shipping cause you'll get to play when fixing the cam, spdif and investigating my vista driver disc lol (The touchpad driver is a xp x64 lol, and the bluetooth driver and a few others say they cant find the hardware :P) :) Plus I might want to buy one of those notebook coolers off you if they fit the mojave just to make it cooler in the summer (cant hurt) and upgrade version to PowerDVD 8.0 depending at the moment on how much it costs and all that. All this just under Vista, sod XP and BF2 lol, and since tbh XP hanged and bluescreened a lot on the game (SL) I wanted to install it for lmao, why I dont have a damn clue lol but I like TDR better. Do you want some games to test with again? Yeah this powersaving I think its a really cool feature - just messes up sometimes on the current config on mains. I'm sure it would suck if it were running 500/799 all the time. So if you do find a way to disable it if theres no other way. It'd be cool if its easy for me to switch back on.

The main points as far as the GPU clocking goes, is clocking to 275/301 on battery equils choppy bluray (If its impossible to handle bluray on battery I'll understand)

275/301 on gaming on battery for an hour. Not impossible but would be cool if you could force 500/799 by choice. Then higher end games would run without TDRing due to low frames. (Again I'll understand)

And finally the 383 / 301 that happens on mains, I thought they only had 3 modes. 100/200 2d, 275/301 low3d and 500/799 3dperf, on 174.90 and other 174/175, I think anything but the stock 167.43 out of all I tested which doesnt make sence I know lol. Hopefully the bios update fixies it. I'm noticing in Eve and now bluray too on mains 383 / 301 clock it seems to kick in and get stuck there, on Bluray that might be right but it runs 500/799 some of the time and 383 / 301 clock seems to be able to handle Bluray at first glance. Eve usually runs 500/799 it doesnt trigger the 383 / 301 clock as much as it used to in my testing, possibly cause I'd ripped out a fresh install at the time, no possible chance of left overs.

Actually if you install Riva Tuner which I did after and, which you guys had on before lol and which I didnt want to play around in. It thinks it is the 3d performance clock is 383 / 301. Weird huh.

*Note, you could always get an exorcist for my notebook :P* Its clearly one of these one off sad cases lol.

that reminds me, I need to order the office discs backup while I still can, thats what I have to do right - I dont think I've had it 90 days yet? They really like to make the honest man who purchases his software suffer these days. I couldn't reinstall PowerDVD 7 to upgrade it cause they were kind enough to remove the trial from their official site to make way for PowerDVD 8 lol. Could I get a copy of the .exe when its sent back for PowerDVD and NOD32 please :0

Yup, pick up will be arranged for Tuesday and the DHL label will be emailed tomorrow.

So it's back to solidarity Vista?!? Do you know anyone who plays Eve or SL on an 8800M GTX notebook? As you seem to only be having Vista GPU issues in Eve and SL then feel free to send Eve back for us to test and we'll of course take a look at the other issues to.

BTW did you use the Acronis image to put Vista back on?

Hi

I have emailed a copy of this post to Andrew so he can take a look at it in full before we get your notebook back. As there's so much info relating directly to the issues you are experiencing I think it's probably best if we move it to email so it's easier for us to deal with. Nothing personal!
